Three people already interested in the freestyle means, manual wagon shopping soon! This saab 9-3's asking price is $6,000 and it’s been on Craigslist for a while.
Tonight I decided to investigate and the car fax says it hasn’t been sold since 2014 if I’m reading it right.

That seems crazy doesn’t it?
If true, what do you think they’d take for it? Kbb fair purchase price is $4,300. Do dealers start and drive cars with enough regularity or are there worries about buying a car if it’s been on a lot for two years. Also, what the hells wrong with it that no one wants it for two years!?

$4300 is probably generous at this point. They’re not worth a lot.

Could be because parts are so expensive, and thus making insurance cost a lot more too.

I just looked it up on CL... nice looking car! I drive by that dealer every day, but I never really pay much attention to their lot. I’d say there’s some wiggle room in the price. Probably hadn’t sold because Americans are allergic to station wagons, orphan cars, manual transmissions and colors other than gray. I wouldn’t worry too much, but I’d pay to have it inspected by a third party for sure.

The same thing happened when I was mini shopping. There was this green one I was keeping an eye on that had been for sale for nearly two years, I was waiting for the price to creep down, and the day before I was going to go and have a look, it sold.
There’s a lot of (usually not good) reasons a cars up for sale that long, so I’d be very thorough if you do go and look at it to find any problems

probably a loaner car, or someone connected to the dealer was driving it.

good tips. That’s funny about the mini. I was actually looking at a lancer ralliart Sportback a little while back and it had been at this dealer that was a little ways away for over 6 months. I contacted them and Salesperson originally said for a refundable deposit they’d hold it at their lot til the weekend. When I called back with my card info, he said that he had the policy wrong and it sold the day before I was going to go buy it.

I would have it inspected. But yeah, in the ad it looks great. I wish Eugene had somewhere even remotely close to the quality of used cars as Portland. I know we are a lot smaller but I feel like Eugene has less cars and they are more expensive. I’ve heard it’s because we are a college town, and most of the college crowd will just pay more for anything remotely cool.

I’ve noticed in my daily Craigslist surfing that most everything is either in Portland or Seattle. Usually everything I want is in Seattle! If you’re interested in the Saab I can swing by and give it a quick once-over.

I try to not even look at Seattle. Thanks for the offer, I’ll let you know if I get serious about buying in the next couple weeks.
